The Motwani Quaich is a knock-out tournament which features players who are knocked out of the Coronelli Trophy in rounds 1 & 2
This strongly contested trophy gets its name from GM Paul Motwani, Scotland’s first Grandmaster
Paul has close connections with Troon Chess Club and has visited the club on many occasions, playing in two simultaneous matches against Troon players

The time control is 1hr 15mins each for all moves. In the event of a draw, the match is replayed again with 5 min each on the clock for all moves and so on until we have a winner. This rule will apply for the first 2 rounds at least and will be reviewed before the semi final and final.
